First Hispanic-American to receive the FBA’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Mr. Alfredo Castellanos a prominent attorney, founder of Castellanos & Gierbolini Law Firm and Life Fellow of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) was honored in Washington D.C. with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Federal Bar Association (FBA) for his outstanding volunteer service, support for the rule of law and dedication to the nations law students. This is the first time an award of this importance was given by the FBA to a Hispanic American. In addition to Mr. Castellanos, the Lifetime Achievement Award was given to the Honorable Andrew S. Effron, the former Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces (CAAF).

Mr. Alfredo Castellanos, a renowned constitutional scholar and trial attorney, is a frequent visitor to our nation’s capital. During all the years that Mr. Castellanos was invited to judge the Thurgood A. Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition, he always made a personal visit to Arlington National Cemetery to pay his respects to all the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for the liberties we all have, and especially his personal idol – Justice Hugo Black. This year Mr. Castellanos was participating for the 7th consecutive year as a judge in the Annual Moot Court Competition of the Federal Bar Association (FBA). Mr. Castellanos expressed, he feels privileged to have shared the competition judge duties with such distinguished and honorable colleagues over the years and he feels particularly satisfied, that he has been able to contribute to the legal development of the America’s young attorneys.

In addition to the Lifetime Achievement Award, The Young Lawyers Division of the Federal Bar Association presented Mr. Castellanos with a separate award for his outstanding commitment to the Thurgood A. Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition and all the years of service.

Mr. Castellanos was also appreciated by the Honorable Scott W. Stucky, U.S. Court Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, who presented Mr. Castellanos with a Special Recognition for his commitment and dedication to the legal profession. This was the second time in the last 7 years period, that Mr. Castellanos sat with the Honorable Scott W. Stucky as a judge in the final round.

Being recognized on the national level, by the Federal Bar Association, The Young Lawyers Division of the FBA and esteemed jurists is an outstanding achievement in all areas, as a professional, scholar and human being.
