Man Killed in Tree-Cutting Workplace Accident in Greenwich

Greenwich, CT — A workplace accident left a tree worker dead after he was struck by a tree trunk in Greenwich. The fatal accident occurred Monday afternoon, January 7, 2013, while working with his family’s business, MYFOXNY.com reported.

According to reports, Alvarro Lopez, 26, of Port Chester, was working with his family’s business, Lopez Landscaping of Greenwich, when the accident occurred,

Lopez had apparently cut a large section of the trunk when it fell backwards and struck him, leaving him unconscious.

Responding emergency crews found Lopez in cardiac arrested and rushed him to Greenwich Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Lopez was reportedly wearing a harness and boot spikes at the time of the accident.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the fatal workplace accident.
