NJ Transit Train Accident Leaves Man Injured in Rahway

Rahway, N.J. — One person was injured after a New Jersey Transit train hit a car in Rahway on Friday, September 28, 2012. The train accident occurred around noon, which effected train traffic along NJ Transit’s Northeast Corridor, NJ.com reports.

According to reports, the New York-bound 11:01 train from Trenton hit a gray passenger sedan that was on the railroad tracks, about one mile south of the Rahway train station.

It is unknown at this time how the car got on the railroad tracks. The tracks are elevated about 20 feet at the Rahway interlocking.

The front end of the vehicle sustained heavy damage, and left the driver with minor injuries.

The driver, who was only identified as an adult male, was taken to University Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

None of the 900 passengers on the train were injured.

Investigations are underway.
