New Jersey – A New Jersey mother accused of putting her child in a tanning booth is now claiming the incident was a “misunderstanding” following her arrest last week. As reported by NBCNewYork.com, Patricia Krentcil, 44, who was charged with felony child endangerment after school officials reported to police that her 5-year-old daughter told her classmates she had gone tanning with her mother, says her daughter was sunburned and not exposed to synthetic rays from a tanning booth.

Krentcil is quoted in the report as stating, “This whole big thing happened, and everyone got involved… It was 85 degrees outside, she got sunburned. That’s it. That’s all that happened.”

The accused mother has pleaded not guilty to the charge. She has been released on $25,000 bail.

New Jersey prohibits children under 14 from using indoor tanning salons.
