Montgomery County, MD — A pit bull was shot and killed by a police officer after it attacked two teenagers Tuesday night, March 27, 2012. The dog attack occurred at around 8:50 p.m., in the 20400 block of Boulder Ridge Terrace in Montgomery Village, the Washington Examiner reports.

Authorities reported that a 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were bit by one of the two pit bulls that were menacing the teens.

The teens suffered bites and were taken to the hospital for treatment of “minor wounds.” The boy sustained bite wounds on his arm and leg, while the girl was bitten on her arm, leg and neck.

Montgomery County police officers tased the dog, but it was ineffective. The dog continued to act out, and was subsequently shot and killed by the officer.

The owner of the dogs were cited by Animal Services for having a dog at large and unwanted contact.
