Texas City, TX — A worker was killed in an apparent industrial accident at a Southeast Texas port Saturday night, February 11, 2012. The fatal industrial accident took place at the Dallas Group of America Inc.’s Texas City facility at about 10 p.m., reported the Galveston Daily News.

The details surrounding the accident are being withheld at this time, but it appears the victim, Virgel James Stoker, 26, was hurt while working on industrial equipment at the facility.

Responding emergency crews rushed Stoker to Clear Lake Regional’s Mainland Medical Center campus in Texas City. Stoker was pronounced dead after his injures proved fatal at the hospital.

Stoker’s cause of death is unknown.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the industrial accident.

The plant has since been shut down, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The Dallas Group manufactures absorbent synthetic magnesium silicate products that are mainly used in the food industry.
