Austin, TX — Two people were rushed to the hospital following a minor flash explosion at Electronic Recycling Trading Inc., on Tuesday, January 10, 2011. The workplace accident occurred at 2:45 p.m. at the facility located at 15508 Bratton Lane, reports the Austin-American Statesman.

The exact cause of the flash explosion on the copper recycling conveyor is unknown at this time.

The explosion reportedly sprayed the two unidentified employees with scalding hydraulic fluid.

Responding emergency crews rushed the two victims to St. David’s Hospitals in Round Rock for treatment of burns. They were then transferred to Brook Army Medical Center for further burn treatment.

The Travis County Emergency Service District No. 2 and the Pflugerville Fire Department are looking into the cause of the blast.

It is unknown whether the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be conducting their own investigation into the work-related accident.
