San Antonio, TX — A red-light runner caused a two vehicle-crash that killed a woman, who was sitting on a bus stop bench, on the Northwest Side early Monday, December 12, 2011. The fatal automobile accident occurred around 5:50 a.m., at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and West Woodlawn Avenue, reported the San Antonio Express.

According to reports, Victor Bravo Cruz, 48, was driving a pickup truck south on Wilson when he attempted to stop for a red light at West Woodlawn Avenue, but he didn’t hit his brakes on time. The truck slammed into a white sedan, and caused the truck to run into a VIA bus stop and its concrete bench where a woman was sitting.

The 34-year-old woman was subsequently dragged about 10 feet and pinned underneath the truck.

The woman, who remains unidentified, was killed in the collision.

Rosa Jaime Ortiz, 46, a passenger in the truck, was transported to University Hospital by responding emergency crews.

Cruz was arrested for driving without an operator’s license and without insurance. Cruz has since been released after paying a $300 fine.

The driver of the white sedan was not injured in the wreck.

Investigations are ongoing.
