Theresa, WI — Chemical fumes at a Dodge County manufacturing plant killed one worker and critically injured another when they were overcome by the toxic vapors. The men were found unconscious around 3:45 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2011 at Vivid Image Inc., reported the Chicago Tribune.

Police officials reported that the workplace accident occurred as the victims were mixing two or three compounds when the fumes apparently overcame them.

The wife of one of the victims, a 65-year-old man, found the two men unconscious and alerted emergency crews.

The second victim, a 55-year-old man, died as a result of the toxic fumes.

The names of the victims are being withheld at this time.

The 65-year-old man was rushed to an area hospital where he is in critical condition. He is reportedly breathing and “progressing very well,” the Chicago Tribune reported.

A hazmat team was called to the scene, who decontaminated 15 to 20 first responders.

Investigations into the workplace accident are underway.
