Ballinger, TX — A school bus rollover accident killed one student and injured several others when the bus driver lost control and hit a culvert Friday, November 4, 2011. The fatal school bus crash occurred on U.S. 83 near Ballinger, while the bus was on its way to Medina from Abilene, reported the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

According to reports, the school-owned bus was transporting 12 students, three faculty members and a faculty member’s wife when the bus driver, 34-year-old faculty member Michael Nicodemus, lost control at a bend.

The school bus hit a culvert before rolling over once, ejecting people from the bus.

A Petersburg student, Anabel Reid, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

Responding emergency crews transported 15 people to area hospitals for medical treatment, where four people were listed in critical condition.

As of Saturday night, 18-year-old Colleyville student Allison Dorshorst was in stable condition.

The students and faculty members were reportedly on their way to do mission work at a children’s home when the fatal rollover accident occurred.

Investigations into the deadly school bus crash are underway.
