Winthrop, MN — Guidecraft Inc. and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have announced a voluntary recall of Twist and Sort Toys for choking hazards the defective product poses to young children. The CPSC announced the nationwide product recall on October 20, 2011.

The recall was issued after it was discovered that the small pegs on three or four of the posts could separate and detach, which creates a choking hazard to children.

“This recall involves Twist ‘n Sort wooden toys. The toy has a square base, four posts and twelve primary-colored game pieces that can be arranged to fit over the posts. Product number ‘712’ is printed on underside of base,” the CPSC reported.

Consumers are advised to remove the toy from their child’s possession and contact Guidecraft for a replacement or another product of equal value.

For more information about the nationwide recall, consumers should contact Guidecraft toll-free at (888) 824-1308 between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.guidecraft.com.
