Colorado Springs, CO — A three-vehicle accident in Colorado Springs left six people with injuries Thursday morning, September 22, 2011. The traffic accident occurred just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Yampa and Yuma, just west of Circle Drive, reported KKTV.

According to police, a car ran a stop sign, causing it to collide with a truck. Another vehicle unsuccessfully tried to avoid the crash, but instead it crashed on the corner of the intersection.

The collision caused one of the vehicles to land on its side, trapping an occupant inside the wreckage. Responding emergency crews had to extricate the victim from their vehicle.

EMTs rushed six people to area hospitals for treatment of injuries. The person trapped inside the vehicle is listed in critical condition, while the others are in stable condition.

The identities of those involved in the multiple-vehicle accident are being withheld at this time.

Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the injurious traffic accident. Investigators are currently awaiting confirmation on the alcohol suspicions from the hospital.

Investigations are underway. No charges have been filed as of yet.
