Columbus, OH — A young boy was rushed to the hospital after a needle at a northwest side movie theater apparently stuck him. The incident occurred at the Cinemark Movies 12, located at 2520 Bethel Road on Sunday, September 4, 2011, reported 10tv.com.

Police officials reported that a writing pen with the ink cartridge removed and replaced with a sewing needle was left between the movie theater seats. The child leaned over to talk to his parents when he was stuck in the back.

The 8-year-old boy reportedly began to develop neurological symptoms after being stuck by the needle. He was rushed to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for treatment.

His current condition and identity is not known at this time.

Police officers went seat-to-seat inside the theater to look for any other needles. The needle is being tested and police are trying to determine who was responsible.

The movie theater remained open.

Investigations are underway.
