Arkansas Workplace Accident: Man Killed at Magnolia Steel Mill

Magnolia, AR — An industrial accident at a steel mill in Magnolia has left a worker dead Tuesday, September 6, 2011. The fatal steel mill accident occurred at CMC Steel Arkansas while the worker was changing a cable on an overhead crane, reported CanadianBusiness.com.

The deceased CMC Steel Arkansas worker was identified as 55-year-old Gene Drake of Waldo, reported Banner-News.

Drake was reportedly the leader of a maintenance crew at the steel mill and was changing the cable at the time of the accident. Details surrounding the industrial accident and how it occurred are under investigation and have not been released at this time.

Drake’s body was sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, reported Coroner Randy Reed.

The Little Rock’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) division will be investigating the fatal workplace accident.

CMC Steel is reportedly cooperating with local and federal investigations.
