Boca Raton, FL — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Office Depot have voluntarily recalled Realspace™ PRO 3000 Series Desk Chairs for pinch hazards the defective product poses to consumers. The CPSC announced the nationwide product recall on August 18, 2011.

The nationwide product recall was issued after discovering that a consumer’s finger can become caught in an opening in the chair’s tilt mechanism, posing a pinch hazard to consumers.

One report of a consumer sustaining an injury has been received by Office Depot. The consumer was injured when his finger was pinched by the tilt mechanism.

“This recall involves all Realspace™ PRO 3000 Series Custom Fit desk chairs. The mid-back fabric chairs were sold in black and have SKU number 996-190. Consumers are advised to contact Office Depot’s recall hotline to receive a free repair kit with a cover for the tilt mechanism. Be sure to write down the

P.O. number found on the underside of the chair for a reference when contacting Office Depot.
