Lawton, OK — A 26-year-old man was killed in an apparent industrial accident at Bar S plant in Southwest Oklahoma. The worker died Wednesday afternoon, July 13, 2011, after he fell into a meat grinder, reported KFOR.

According to officials, Michael Raper, 26, of Duncan was working late Tuesday night at the Lawton plant when the industrial accident occurred. Raper was reportedly responsible for cleaning the machinery.

Raper reportedly slipped and fell into the meat grinder, while still conscious. He lost both of his legs as a result.

Responding rescue crews worked for about two hours to free Raper from the machinery. He was then rushed to an area hospital where attending physicians pronounced him dead Wednesday afternoon.

Raper left behind a fiancé and four children.

Investigators with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are at the scene and are conducting investigations. Officials say it could take up to six months to complete the investigation process.
