Staten Island, NY — A FDNY EMT is facing sexual abuse charges after a car crash victim claimed the emergency technician fondled her breasts and tried to begin a romance with her following the accident. The incident took place after the victim was involved in a crash on West Cedarview Avenue and Kensico Street in Richmond on May 16, reported silive.com.

David Taranto, 31, of the 200 block of Kiswick Street in Midland Beach, is facing a single count of third-degree sexual abuse, which is a misdemeanor.

Law enforcement officials reported that Taranto took his stethoscope, placed it underneath the middle-aged female’s shirt once she was in the ambulance, and cupped her breast in his hand. Taranto also allegedly told the woman that she had a “beautiful body,” and then accompanied her to the hospital and stayed with her three hours. In addition, Taranto allegedly took her cell phone and called his phone with it, so that he could have her number. He then sent her texts over the next couple of days asking her to come over to his house.

The woman, who was uncomfortable with Taranto’s contact, alerted authorities.

Police arrested Taranto and set his bail at $1,000.

Taranto has since been suspended from his job without pay for 30 days following the arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 20.
