Chesterfield County, SC — A collision involving an Amtrak passenger train and a pickup truck, killed two people inside of the truck Monday morning, June 20, 2011. The fatal train accident occurred around 7:45 a.m., at the railroad crossing on East Market Street in Cheraw, reported WMBF News.

According to SCHP officials, an Amtrak train collided with a 1994 pickup truck, killing both occupants who were identified as 52-year-old Glenn Locklear and 56-year-old Barny Driggers, both of Cheraw.

The victims reportedly died as a result of the trauma of the train accident.

Police reported that the intersection did not have crossing guards, but did have a stop sign. Other details surrounding the accident are unknown and remain under investigation.

The Amtrak train was reportedly headed to New York from Miami at the time.

None of the 244 passengers aboard the train were injured.

Investigations into the fatal train accident are underway.
