Gallatin, TN — An explosion at a Hoeganaes plant injured five workers Friday morning, May 27, 2011. The work-related accident occurred at 6:37 a.m., at the plant located on Airport Road, reported News Channel 5.

According to officials, it is still unknown what caused the explosion and fire.

Responding emergency crews rushed three employees to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Two others were taken to Sumner Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The identities of the victims have yet to be released.

Details surrounding the accident are being withheld. More information is expected to be released Friday afternoon.

Investigations are underway.

The Hoeganaes plant makes powdered steel used for gears in cars, off road vehicles, and power tools. This is reportedly the third accident this year at the plant this year.
