Appleton, WI — A 12-vehicle wreck, involving two semi-trucks and 10 other vehicles, seriously injured a Malone woman and five others on southbound U.S. 41. The car accident occurred just before noon, on U.S. 41 at Richmond Street, reported the Post Crescent.

Police officers reported that cause of the crash is under investigation, but it is miraculous that no one was killed.

“Right now, the cause is under investigation. We are still trying to determine if there was one or multiple accidents that occurred,” Police Sgt. Pat DeWall said to the Post Crescent. “Between statements and physical evidence, we are trying to determine exactly what happened.”

A 47-year-old Malone woman was airlifted to Theda Clark by ThedaStar helicopter for treatment of injuries acquired in the wreck. Responding emergency crews rushed five others by ambulance to area hospitals.

Officials reported that a 58-year-old Oshkosh man and a 58-year-old Green Bay man were released from Theda Clark after being treated for their injuries. Another victim, a 43-year-old Suamico woman, remains at Theda Clark, but is expected to be released before the end of the day.

A full investigation into the multiple-vehicle accident is underway.
