CPSC Recall: Sanus Elements surge protectors recalled for fire hazards

Savage, MN– About 2,500 Low-profile power conditioners/surge protectors manufactured by Rite-Tech Industrial Co. were voluntarily recalled for electrical shock hazards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Milestone AV Technologies LLC announced the product recall on March 8, 2011.

The product recall was initiated after discovering that improper grounding of the case and inadequate insulation for the circuit breaker, which poses an electrical shock hazard to consumers.

“This recall involves all Sanus Elements model ELM205 low-profile power conditioners or surge protectors. SANUS ELEMENTS is printed on the front of the unit and the model number is printed near the UL logo on the back,” reported the CPSC press release.

Consumers are advised to contact Milestone for a replacement product or refund.
