Ashland, OH—A Mansfield man was killed in an industrial accident at Americarb Inc., on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. The accident occurred at Americarb Inc., 1025 Faultless Dr., Ashland, at around 11:49 p.m., reported the Mansfield News Journal.

According to officials, Danny L. Wolfe, 55, was struck in the abdomen by a chunk of metal that broke off a piece of equipment. Emergency crews rushed to the scene where they found Wolfe on the floor, with someone who is believed to be a co-worker applying direct pressure to a wound.

Wolfe was not breathing when emergency crews arrived, prompting rescue crews to administer CPR before rushing him to a hospital for further treatment.

Wolfe apparently sustained internal bleeding and was pronounced dead at Samaritan Hospital on Thursday, from an “exsanguinating hemorrhage.”

Officials with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) arrived at the scene to conduct a full investigation.
