Everett, WA—Eight people were injured in a five-vehicle collision on State Road 2 near Skykomish. The automobile accident occurred when a driver lost control and veered into the oncoming lane at around 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2011, as reported by the Seattle Times.

According to the state patrol, a Mazda traveling east on State Road 2 lost control and crossed the center line, where it collided with two oncoming cars. The Mazda then spun around and hit two more oncoming vehicles, before coming to a rest on the side of the roadway.

The driver of the Mazda, a woman and two children in the car were rushed to Valley General hospital by responding emergency crews. Two people in the other vehicles were also transported to Valley General for treatment of injuries. Two others were treated at the scene by responding medical crews.

The state patrol cited the cause of the crash as “traveling too fast for conditions.”
