Kissimmee, FL– A plane crash near Kissimmee Gateway Airport killed two people inside a small, vintage plane on Wednesday, February 2, 2011. The aviation accident occurred around 5:20 p.m., after witness saw it flying erratically through the air, as reported by Central Florida News 13.

“It was going probably as fast as a jet, and then he circled one time and did it again, and then we didn’t see him anymore,” said witness Carolyn Scholler. The plane apparently appeared to be experiencing problems before it crashed.

Police officials reported that the Fouga CM-170 Magister plane was trying to land on the runway at the airport, when it went down in a nearby field.

The two people killed in the plane crash were not immediately identified, but the plane was registered to Wilton C. Lentz, Jr., of Kissimmee.

The vintage plane was manufactured in 1963, and its last airworthiness check was conducted in 1995.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the fatal aviation accident.
