Studio City, CA—A 18-wheeler slammed into the center divider of the Ventura (101) Freeway, before colliding with a minivan, leaving the driver seriously injured. The semi-truck driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, following the 6:10 a.m. crash on the eastbound lanes of the 101 Freeway near Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Studio City, reported My Fox LA.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the 18-wheeler was heading east on the highway, when it slammed into the center divider and collided with the minivan.

Two people, the trucker and the driver of the minivan, were rushed by ambulance to two hospitals—Providence Saint Joseph Medical and Cedars Sinai Medical Center—for treatment of injuries. The trucker sustained lesser injuries than the driver of the minivan.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

Chunks of the concrete divider were thrown across the highway, and other vehicles were damaged.

The highway was reopened by 10 a.m.

Investigations into the 18-wheeler accident are underway.
