Ellisville, MS—A workplace accident at Howard Industries Inc. left an electronics technician dead, after he was electrocuted while testing transformers on Sunday, January 9, 2011. The accident occurred around 12:50 p.m., at Howard Substation on Highway 11, South, as reported by the Leader Call.

Ellisville Police Department investigators reported that the worker, identified as Benjamin Edwards Spoon of Stringer, was fatally electrocuted while testing transformers.

The Ellisville Fire Department and EMServ responded to the scene, where he was pronounced dead by EMServ paramedics. The Jones County coroner also responded to the accident.

The official cause of death is still under investigation. OSHA also responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

The Ellisville Police Department has closed its investigation, determining that Spoon’s death was an accident.
