Wilmington, DE– The body of a former Bush official was found in a Delaware landfill. Newark, police investigators have ruled the death a homicide and are asking the public for any leads in the case, as reported by Fox News.

John P. Wheeler III, 66, was found dead on Friday, December 31, 2010 in a Wilmington landfill.

It was initially reported that Wheeler’s body was dumped from a refuse truck, which would have come from Newark to dump at the landfill.

Wheeler was not reported missing before his body was discovered. He was apparently last seen riding an Amtrak train from Washington to Wilmington, Del., last Tuesday, reported The Wilmington News Journal.

Wheeler is a Vietnam veteran who started the fund-raising effort to build the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall in Washington, D.C. Wheeler had a long and decorated military career, and worked with the Reagan administration and both Bush administrations.

Investigators believe Wheeler’s body had been put inside one of the bins in Newark before a disposal truck picked up the bin for disposal.

The Newark Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding Wheeler to contact them at 1-800-TIP-3333.
