West Sacramento, CA (California Injury Lawyer News)—A violent collision Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 left a 60-year-old motorist dead and two workers injured. The wreck occurred in the westbound lanes of Highway 50, in close proximity to Harbor Boulevard. According to information provided by The Modesto Bee, the California Highway Patrol received reports of a vehicle being driven carelessly at approximately 10 a.m., shortly before the fatal wreck happened.

Not too long after, Highway Patrol troopers received word that the reckless driver in a Camry careened into the Hwy. 50 center divider. A private contractor, which the Department of Transportation hired for an unspecified job, was sitting in his work truck near the divider at the time. The Camry slammed into the work truck, propelling it into another worker. That employee, who was only identified as a 41-year-old male, consequently became pinned between the divider and the work truck. The car also struck a white van, though the van driver managed to escape injury in that secondary collision.

Emergency medical crews were dispatched to the scene to aid those injured in the West Sacramento wreck. Reports indicated the worker who became pinned suffered leg injuries in the traffic accident and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Another worker sustained minor injuries in the crash. It was not clear if that employee required medical attention. The driver of the Camry, whom the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified as Morissa Susan Anapolsky, was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center, where her injuries sadly proved fatal. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) data indicates there were a total of 3,081 traffic fatalities reported throughout the state of California during the year 2009. Of those causalities, 109 victims lost their lives in Sacramento County crashes.
