Burlingame, CA—TOA Electronics Inc. and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have voluntarily recalled about 2,600 paging horn loudspeakers over a risk of impact injuries. The CPSC announced the recall on December 16, 2010.

The recall was initiated after discovering that the speaker housing can crack at the mounting bracket, which can cause the speakers to fall from their mounting, posing a risk of injury from impact to consumers. High temperature and humidity environments have yielded higher failure rates.

The CPSC reported, “This recall involves TOA paging horn speakers in the SC series. The speakers have “Paging Horn Speaker,” the TOA logo and model and production information printed on the back.” Models included in the recall are:

• Model Number: SC-610T, with manufacturing dates of 08F through 08K.

• Model Number: SC-615, with manufacturing dates of 08B through 08K.

• Model Number: SC-630, with manufacturing dates of 08I through 08K

• Model Number: SC-630T, with manufacturing dates of 08F through 08K

Consumers can contact TOA or their local TOA dealer for instructions on how to receive a free replacement product.

For more information concerning the recall, consumers can contact TOA at (800) 733-4750 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit their website at www.toaelectronics.com. Consumers can also email TOA at [email protected].
