North Hollywood, CA—About 12,000 silver metallic pillar candles were recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and General Wax & Candle Company over fire hazards. The CPSC announced the recall on December 7, 2010.

The recall was initiated after discovering that the metallic paint on the candles can catch fire, posing a risk of fire.

The CPSC reported, “This recall involves metallic pillar candles sold in two sizes: 2.8 by 4 inches and 2.8 by 6 inches. ‘Metallic Pillar Candle’ and UPC code 86718 56082 or 86718 56092 is printed on the bottom of the candles’ plastic wrapping.”

The recalled candles were sold at Bed Bath and Beyond stores for between $8 and $10.

Consumers are advised to return the candles to any Bed Bath and Beyond store or contact General Wax and Candle to receive a full refund.
