Richland, WA—An apparent wrong-way driver caused a five-car collision, which left three people deal on Interstate 82 near Dallas Road. The fatal automobile crash occurred around 8:30 p.m., on Sunday, November 28, 2010, in the westbound lanes of I-82, as reported by the News Tribune.

The Washington State Highway Patrol reported that they received several reports of a pickup truck driving in the wrong direction on I-82. Apparently one vehicle swerved to miss the truck, as other vehicles got “tangled up” in the collision.

The pickup truck was found on its roof, completely engulfed in flames. The adult driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency crews.

Two people were killed in another vehicle, but a baby in a backseat car seat appeared to be OK. As a precaution, the baby was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.

There reportedly no indications of drugs or alcohol, but there was a dense fog warning in the area.

The West Richland Police Department and Benton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident.

A full investigation is underway.
