Cape Coral, FL– A two-vehicle collision, involving a school bus filled with 29 students, sent seven people to the hospital on Thursday afternoon, November 18, 2010. The automobile crash occurred on Pelican Boulevard and Southwest 52nd Street in Cape Coral at 3:06 p.m., as reported by NBC2.

The school bus was transporting students from Skyline Elementary when it hit a car in front of the bus. The bus driver reportedly slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting the car, but was not successful. The slamming of the brakes is believed to have caused majority of the injuries.

The seven injured students were transported to HealthPark Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The injured students have since been released from the hospital.

It is unknown what caused the school bus to hit the vehicle.

It is also unknown if the Lee County school bus driver will be charged.

Investigations are underway.
