Reno, NV– A Wal-Mart employee is facing three counts of attempted murder after he unleashed gunfire at a Reno Wal-Mart on Friday, Oct. 29. The standoff began at around 9:00 a.m., at the Wal-Mart on Kietzke Lane, which left three people with injuries, as reported by Kolo News.

Reno Police reported that John Gillane shot three male Wal-Mart employees before he barricaded himself inside a back office at the retail store.

After nine armed police officers entered the store and initiated a 2-hour negotiating process with Gillane, he finally surrendered to authorities. Gillane was arrested and officers confiscated his handgun.

The victims were rushed to Renown Medical Center for treatment of their gunshot wounds. One shooting victim was reportedly critically wounded. The “prognosis is good for all them,” stated a Wal-Mart Stores Inc. spokesman.

Gillane was still employed by Wal-Mart when the shooting occurred, but discussions were planned for Friday morning about his possible termination. There reportedly is still no clear motive.

Investigations are still ongoing.
