Atlanta, GA—A collision between two motorcycles Saturday, Oct. 30 left a MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) officer and two others injured. The motorcycle accident occurred in close proximity to the Inman Park station, as reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

According to information provided by Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones and a MARTA spokesperson, a MARTA officer was on motorcycle patrol when his bike collided with another motorcycle near the intersection of DeKalb Avenue and Hurt Street.

A preliminary probe into the motorcycle wreck seemed to indicate the MARTA officer was responding to a call in the westbound lanes of the roadway when his/her motorcycle struck another bike.

That motorcycle, which was occupied by its operator and a passenger, was reportedly making a left turn from the eastbound lanes when the collision occurred.

Jones stated all three crash victims were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. The unidentified driver and passenger on the second motorcycle sustained head injuries and fractures in the wreck. They were listed in critical condition.

The MARTA officer suffered injuries, which appeared to be non-life threatening.

While charges have yet to be filed in connection with the motorcycle collision, investigations continue.
