Chowan County, NC—An apparent work-related accident left a 25-year-old man dead after his harness got caught in a piece of machinery at a peanut processing plant. Emergency crews rushed to Seabrook Ingredients at around 11:40 a.m., where they found the victim dead, as reported by WITN.

Edenton police say that preliminary investigation indicated that his safety harness somehow got entangled in machinery. Steven Phelps, 25, of Edenton was found dead at the scene.

The North Carolina Department of Labor is at the scene conducting investigations.

Seabrook Ingredients is peanut processing plant, which does peanut dry roasting, peanut extracts and peanut butter.
