New York, NY– A two-vehicle accident, involving a school bus, left four Catskill High School students and a bus driver with non-life threatening injuries on Monday, October 18, 2010. The head-on automobile accident occurred on the Kings Highway between Railroad Avenue and Route 212 in Saugerties at around 3 p.m., as reported by The Daily Mail.

Saugerties Police reported a female driver crossed into the northbound lane of traffic, hitting the school bus head-on. It is unknown what prompted the car to veer into the oncoming lanes of traffic.

Diaz Ambulance rushed the female driver to Kingston Hospital for treatment. Sadly, her injuries proved fatal after arriving at the hospital.

Three students were transported to Kingston Hospital for treatment of minor cuts and bruises. The bus driver sustained only neck pain.

One other student was treated at the scene, and then taken to Northern Duchess Hospital for further evaluation of a possible broken leg.

The bus was on its way back to Catskill from Ulster BOCES in Port Ewen, according to police officials.

A full investigation into the fatal head-on crash is underway.
