San Antonio, TX—A head-on collision on Texas 46, involving a school bus and a vehicle, left one person dead and injured about 15 others. The deadly collision occurred on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at around 4p.m., approximately five miles west of Boerne, as reported by MySanAntonio.com.

According to accident reports, Michael Shane Mchorse, 22, of Pipe Creek, was driving a black Nissan sedan, when he drifted into oncoming traffic from the westbound lane of the two-lane roadway. In doing so, Mchorse pulled directly into the path of an Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District bus. The school bus and the sedan slammed head-on into one another.

The collision left Mchorse dead at the scene of the wreck.

Fifteen of the 27 middle school students on board of the bus reportedly sustained minor injuries. The victims were transported to Methodist Boerne Emergency Center for treatment of their injuries.

The bus driver was uninjured in the accident.

Officials are still trying to determine what caused Mchorse to veer into oncoming traffic.

A full investigation is underway.
