Salem NY Crash: 2 Killed, 4 Injured in Single-Car Wreck; Police Investigating

Glen Falls, NY– State Police are investigating a single-vehicle accident, which left two men dead and four others injured, when their vehicle seemingly veered off of Camden Valley Road. The fatal automobile crash occurred early Sunday, October 24, 2010, at around 3 a.m., near the hamlet of Shushan, as reported by the Post-Star.

Little details surrounding the wreck are known, but officers say alcohol and speed were factors leading to the deadly crash.

Officials say Michael Thomas Jr., 27, of Shushan, was driving the vehicle, when the accident occurred. Thomas Jr. and Butch Crawford, 44, of Bennington, Vt., tragically died at the scene.

Passengers Julie Thomas, 23, of Shushan; Charles Shissler, 23, of Shushan; Robert Phillips, 27, of Salem; and Vanessa Hoyt, 21, of Arlington, Vt., were injured in the wreck.

The victims were rushed by ambulance to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt., for treatment of their injuries. They are reportedly listed in stable condition as of Sunday evening.
