Somerset County PA Accident News: Van, Truck Collide Head-On; 1 Killed, 2 Hurt

Somerset County, PA—A head-on collision in Shade Township, Pennsylvania claimed the life of a 35-year-old Central City woman and left two others injured Sunday, September 26, 2010. A minivan and box-truck were involved in the deadly 7:30 a.m. accident, according to information provided by ThePittsburghChannel.com.

Reports indicated Vicki Gibbons was driving her minivan along State Road 30 when she veered into the path of a box-truck for unknown reasons. The minivan consequently slammed into the front of the truck, driven by 27-year-old Ryan Anchors, causing Gibbons to suffer traumatic injuries.

Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene and rushed Gibbons to Conemaugh Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, her injuries proved fatal at the medical center.

Anchors and his 21-year-old passenger, Ryan Ostrander, were also injured in the crash. Anchors was transported to Somerset Hospital to be treated for his injuries described as minor. It was not disclosed if Ostrander was hospitalized for his “moderate” injuries.

Reports stared S.R. 30 was shut down for approximately four hours as a result of the two-vehicle crash. Investigations into the fatal motor vehicle collision (MVC) are expected to continue.
