Palm Harbor, FL—A motorcyclist was killed and two others were injured in a collision around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010. The fatal accident, which involved a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle and 1991 Mitsubishi, happened along U.S. Route 19, according to information provided by the St. Petersburg Times.

Preliminary Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports indicated 22-year-old Justin Edward Short was riding his motorcycle north on U.S. 19 when he drove into the path of a southbound car that was making a left turn. The driver of the car, 28-year-old Jamie Amber Henson, was apparently turning onto Bilgore Grove Boulevard at the time.

Both Short and his passenger, 21-year-old Krystyna Alayn Clark, were ejected on impact. While they were both wearing helmets at the time, responding emergency medical services (EMS) personnel rushed them to area hospitals for treatment. Henson also suffered injuries in the collision.

Reports stated Henson was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital via ambulance, while Short and Clark were airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center. Short’s traumatic injuries sadly proved fatal at 11:13 p.m. Clark, who suffered serious injuries in the motorcycle-car crash, was listed in stable condition at the hospital.

Though the FHP’s accident report stated Henson failed to yield the right of way to Short, she has not been charged in connection with the crash as of yet. Investigations into the deadly motorcycle accident are expected to be underway.
