Cathedral City, CA—The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office has launched an investigation into an alleged case of misconduct of a Cathedral City police officer. The investigation began after a resident filed the complaint on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, which accused the officer of getting naked and jumping in the pool, as reported by KESQ.

The incident reportedly began when the officer was called to a home on the 35000 block of Maria Road over a noise complaint. According to three women who were in the pool at the time, the officer arrived at their house just before 4 a.m., where the homeowner met him at the door. The officer allegedly asked the homeowner why he wasn’t in the pool with the three girls. The homeowner then let the officer inside.

One woman, who only wanted to be identified as Sonia, stated that the officer then walked over to the pool’s edge. “My friend said, ‘Do you want to come in?’ she didn’t have to ask him twice…when I turned around and saw him all naked, I thought, ‘he’s not playing,'” said Sonia.

Sonia continued, “He started touching her [the friend]; she was feeling uncomfortable.”

The homeowner, who didn’t know what to do, grabbed his cell phone and began snapping pictures. The cell phone and three towels the women were using were taken by a Riverside County District Attorney investigator as evidence.

The officer is currently on paid leave pending the criminal and internal investigation. The police department is also conduct a professional standards investigation.

The officer, who has yet to be identified, has been on the police force for over five years.
