Delaware Valley, DE—A 68-year-old seasonal worker was tragically killed while cutting grass at Carousel Farm Park on Monday, August 30, 2010. The fatal work-related accident occurred around 12:17 p.m., at the park on Limestone Road in Pike Creek in New Castle County, as reported by Delaware Online.

James Hagerty, 68, of Sherwood Park in Milltown was reportedly preparing to cut the grass on a hill, located near a pond, when his riding lawnmower slid down the hill. The mower then overturned and pinned Hagerty underneath.

The hill that the lawn tractor slid down is located off Enchanted Lake Circle, which is a gravel road that surrounds the pond in the northeastern part of the 216-acre park.

When rescue teams arrived they sadly pronounced Hagerty dead.

Hagerty was reportedly retired, but returned to work as a seasonal employee in May. Prior to his retirement, Hagerty worked for the county as a special-equipment operator from December 2001 to December 2006.
