Lutz, FL—Authorities from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) cited Rep. Kevin Ambler after a two-vehicle crash left him and an SUV driver injured. The accident occurred in Hillsborough County Saturday afternoon, August 14, 2010, according to information provided by ABC Action News.

Reports indicated Ambler, a Republican State Representative and Florida Senate candidate, was driving a rented Mercedes around 12:30 p.m. when the collision occurred. As Ambler was turning into the entrance of Cheval, his vehicle reportedly struck a Toyota 4Runner sport utility vehicle.

The impact left Ambler and SUV driver Janet-Lee Troupe injured. While Troupe was rushed to University Community Hospital via ambulance. Ambler’s wife transported him to St. Josephs Hospital North. Their injuries were deemed to be non-life threatening.

According to an Associated Press report, Ambler was issued a traffic citation for his failure to yield the right of way. Since 1999, Ambler has reportedly been charged with speeding 10 times. Five of those citations were apparently issued within the last five years. However, adjudication was withheld on all but two of the cases.
