Keystone Heights, FL—The teenage mom who posted a picture of her 11-month-old child pretending to smoke a bong on the Internet was arrested July 29, 2010. The Clay County woman was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released from jail on a $500 bond, according to information provided by the Florida Times-Union, as well as a previous report titled, “Keystone Heights FL Baby Appears to Smoke Bong in Photo; DCF to Investigate Mom.”

Authorities from the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) began investigating 19-year-old Rachel Marie Stieringer after receiving a tip from an anonymous Texas resident. That person reportedly called the Florida Abuse Hotline after noticing the controversial photo on Stieringer’s Facebook page.

Though Stieringer alleged the photo was taken as a joke, she was eventually arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a first degree misdemeanor.

While Stieringer could have faced child abuse charges had the baby been exposed to drugs, a DCF-issued drug test came back negative. Stieringer’s parents are reportedly caring for her child as she attends drug counseling and parenting courses.
