Pontiac, MI—A detective from the Pontiac Police Department arrested a motorist after she rammed the back of a vehicle as it was approaching an intersection, causing it to careen into a refrigeration truck that was traveling through the junction at the time. The accident occurred on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, and resulted in one fatality, according to information provided by the Detroit Free Press.

Reports indicated two vehicles were northbound on Woodward, in close proximity to Rapid Street, when one car began to ram the light blue Ford Taurus that was traveling in front of it for unknown reasons.

The seemingly incessant ramming forced the Taurus into an intersection and into the path of a refrigeration truck, according to Pontiac police Sgt. Kevin Braddock.

“Upon arrival, officers noticed a large refrigerator-type truck lying on its driver side within the middle of the intersection and a Ford Taurus with extensive damage near it,” Braddock added.

While emergency medical services (EMS) personnel rushed the 21-year-old female Taurus driver to Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital after the wreck, her injuries proved fatal upon arrival at the medical center.

A passenger in the wrecked Taurus, merely identified as a 20-year-old female, suffered traumatic injuries. She was listed in critical condition after the truck-car collision.

The 23-year-old woman who was driving the unspecified vehicle responsible for ramming the Taurus into the intersection fled the scene after the crash.

However, a Pontiac police detective witnessed the accident while traveling south on Woodward. The unidentified detective managed to catch up with the driver shortly after the accident.

The woman was apprehended and reportedly faces charges in connection with the fatal Pontiac wreck.
