Fort Lauderdale, FL—A Broward County traffic crash involving a car and pedestrian occurred Wednesday night, July 21, 2010, subsequently leaving the pedestrian with severe injuries. The accident occurred as the pedestrian crossed street in Fort Lauderdale, according to information provided by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Reports stated an unidentified pedestrian was crossing Sunrise Boulevard in the 1400 block, just as a 2001 silver BMW traveled westbound on Sunrise. The BMW, driven by 44-year-old Edward Munoz, consequently struck the pedestrian around 9:30 p.m.
Paramedics apparently rushed the injured victim to Broward General Medical Center to be treated for injuries described as life threatening. It was not stated if the injured pedestrian’s family had been notified on the collision. It was also unknown if Munoz suffered any injuries in the traffic wreck.
While a traffic homicide investigation is ongoing, no charges have been filed as of yet.

Also, statistics provided by the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) Encyclopedia, created by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), indicated there were 227 traffic fatalities reported in Broward County alone during the year 2008.
