Boulder, CO—A front fork failure among the Eastside Fix Bicycle Forks has prompted Campus Cruisers LLC and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to announce a voluntarily recall of the product. The CPSC released the recall on July 7, 2010, which advises consumers to stop using the product.

Campus Cruisers has recalled about 100 Eastside Fix bicycle forks because the bicycle’s front fork can break or crash, which can result in a sudden loss of steering control, posing a fall hazard to users.

At this time, Campus Cruisers has received four reports of lateral cracks beneath the front fork’s crown. None of the reports have resulted in injuries.

The CPSC press release stated, “This recall involves Campus Cruisers’ Eastside Fix model bicycles. The single speed bicycle has an aluminum frame and fork. The bicycles were sold in royal blue with a white leather seat and white gel grips on the handlebars.”

The recalled bicycle forks were sold at independent bicycle dealers across the U.S. from March 2010 through May 2010. The product sold for about $450.

Consumers are advised to stop using the bicycles with the recalled front forks, and contact their local Campus Cruiser dealer to schedule repair at no cost.

For more information concerning the recall, consumers can contact Campus Cruisers toll-free at (877) 260-2721 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. MT Monday through Friday or visit their website at www.campuscruisers.com.
