Rusk County, WI—A horrific head-on collision resulted in three fatalities, two of which were children, and left three others injured Sunday afternoon, June 27, 2010. The violent wreck occurred at the junction of County D and County F in the Township of Rusk, according to information provided by WEAU.com.

Joseph Kaminski, 51, was reportedly traveling east when a westbound vehicle driven by David Sandlers, 29, seemingly veered over the centerline, striking Kaminski’s vehicle head-on.

Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene to aid those injured in the crash. Unfortunately, three individuals suffered traumatic injuries, which proved fatal shortly after.

The Rusk County Coroner identified those fatally injured in the two-vehicle accident as Karen Kaminski, 45; Kyle Kaminski, 10; and Barbara Kimball, 12. Police said the three victims were wearing their seat belts at the time.

Three others suffered serious injuries, though deputies have not release their names or conditions as of yet.

According to the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), created by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there were 605 traffic fatalities reported in 2008.

The Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP), Rusk County Sheriff’s Office and Rusk County Coroner’s Office are conducting a full probe into the fatal head-on crash.
