Salinas, CA—A California couple was arrested for trying to sell their 6-month-old baby outside a Walmart store for a mere $25. The couple is now facing charges of child endangerment and being under the influence of narcotics, as reported by MSNBC.

On Wednesday, June 23, 2010, Patrick Fousek, 38, and Samantha Tomasini, 20, were outside a Walmart store, when they approached two women, asking them if they’d like to buy their baby for $25. At first, the women thought Fousek was kidding, but as he continued, trying to convince the women to buy they baby, they became suspicious and alerted police officers.

Police officers arrested the couple at 1 a.m., on Wednesday at their home. When officers arrived, they said the couple appeared to be high on methamphetamine and that the house was not kept up.

Child Protective Services took the baby from the couple, noting the mother reportedly breast-fed the young child while under the influence of drugs.

They were both arrested on charges of being under the influence of narcotics and child endangerment. Fousek was also charged with violation of probation.

The couple will be arraigned on Friday.
