Soquel, CA—Two people were killed early Tuesday, June 22, 2010, when their vehicle left the roadway, hit some vegetation, a parked car and a wall. The fatal wreck occurred on Soquel San Jose Road near Shauna Court at around 1:50 a.m., as reported by the San Jose Mercury News.

The California Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Toyota Scion was traveling northbound on Soquel San Jose Road when the car started to drift off the roadway, crashing into some vegetation. The car continued through the vegetation before hitting a parked Volvo and wall in front of a home.

The impact caused the Toyota’s airbags to deploy, but the two San Jose area residents were not wearing their seat belts.

The crash killed the driver, a 27-year-old man from Los Gatos and a 27-year-old San Jose woman. They were pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical crews. Officers were at the scene within two minutes of receiving the emergency call.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fatal wreck. They believe speed was a factor.
